In other words, the same user may not log on locally and remotely simultaneously. This assumes, however, that different accounts are being used to log on. Specifically, a maximum of two administrators may be logged on at any one time, either two logged on remotely, or one local and one remote administrator. Windows Server 2008 imposes some administrator logon restrictions. In virtual session mode the user is subject to some limitations such as the ability to install applications and view console notification messages. Remote Desktop for Administration is the equivalent to working directly at the remote system's console. Remote Desktop for Administration provides full administration functionality to the remote administrator (including access to the console session and visibility of notification messages). Terminal Services run in two different modes, Administration and Virtual Session. In the case of Windows Server 2008, this service is provided by Terminal Services running on the remote systems and the Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) client on the local system. This remote control can be established in a number of ways, including over wide area networks (WAN), local area networks (LAN) or over the internet.
Conversely, resources (such as printers and disk drives) on the local system can be made available to the remote system for the duration of the connection. In addition, keyboard and mouse events on the local system are transmitted to the remote system enabling the local user to perform tasks on the remote system as if they were physically sitting at the remote system. The new version allows connections to newer virtual machines and is compatible with previous connections.Remote Desktop allows the graphical interface of a remote Windows system to be displayed over a network onto a local system. Why are we upgrading to VMware Horizon View Client? VMware View Client is software used to connect to virtual sites or machines. Please see the instructions on the MiWorkspace Support site for help connecting to virtual machines using the new VMware Horizon View Client. You should not need to manually reconnect to servers or virtual machines. The VMware Horizon View Client will be located in the Start Menu, and your saved connections will be available after the upgrade. After the update is installed, the software name will change to VMware Horizon View Client and the interface will have a new look and feel. If you use this software, the update will install the next time you log off your MiWorkspace computer after March 13.
On Friday, March 13, VMware View Client will be updated to the latest version of the software, VMware Horizon View Client. This information was emailed on March 10, 2015, to all faculty and staff who use the VMWare View Client on a MiWorkspace device.
